Day 20 Prayer – Identity
Dear Prayer Warrior:
Please use this prayer as a guide. As you pray, listen to the still, small voice of God.
Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. Pray for persons or situations you may be personally aware of concerning this issue. Use scriptures you know as the sword of the Spirit.
Scripture Praise Focus:
“I have been crucified with Christ.
It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me.
And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the
Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
(Galatians 2:20)
Dear Heavenly Father,
We give praise that You reveal to our college students, who struggle with identity issues, that their true identity is in Jesus Christ. Enable them to see themselves as a new creation in Christ. We ask that You would reveal the lies of the enemy regarding false identity. Satan declares that they are in charge of their own destiny; he declares there are no absolute truths; he declares that self-fulfillment is life’s highest purpose. But for believers, Christ is in charge of their life; Christ is the absolute way, truth, and life; the highest purpose in life is fulfilling the will of God. Reveal these truths to unbelieving students. Make them aware of your great love and transformational power at work in their life.
Many students on our campuses today remain confused about who they really are. Students too often believe the lies of the world. As they begin this new semester, protect them from “identity theft,” and help them to walk in the realization that they are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God. May they accept themselves as a new creation, adopted as children into the family of God. Help them to turn away for old patterns of behavior and allow Your Holy Spirit to direct their choices. May they accept with their heart and mind the precepts of a Biblical faith: forgiveness and freedom from sin (Romans 6:7); eternal life (John 3:16); reconciliation with God through Christ; freedom from accusation and condemnation from God (Romans 8:1); true holiness enabling them to live a pure life (Colossians 1:22). We pray that each and every student would walk in the freedom Christ paid for at the cross.
We pray that all colleges and universities would support Biblical values. We pray that administrators would hire staff, especially chaplains, who support a Christian world view rather than opposing the truth of Scripture. May they treat each student as worthy and set apart for God’s purposes. May each model the character of Jesus Christ in the classroom, on the campus and in social settings. And finally, we pray that You would bring revival to our college campuses as students and staff live out the power of Christ in their daily life.
Dear God our Creator, we feel blessed to know that You have created us in Your image. Thank you for hearing us and answering our prayers as we pray for students everywhere.
We pray this prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen!
