Day 29 Prayer – Self Worth
Dear Prayer Warrior:
Please use this prayer as a guide. As you pray, listen to the still, small voice of God.
Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. Pray for persons or situations you may be personally aware of concerning this issue. Use scriptures you know as the sword of the Spirit.
Scripture Praise Focus:
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth
and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
(Revelation 5:12)
Dear Heavenly Father,
Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing (Revelation 5:12)! We praise you, for YOU are worthy to be praised. Because we are created in your image, we intrinsically carry values and significance. Thank you for making us so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous. Even in our mother’s intricate wombs, you have already had each of our books written (Psalm 139:14-16). Abba, you show us your love through the death of your Son, while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8). So, we pray that students will come to understand your unconditional love, which is far greater than any rewards earned on earth through our own performances or achievements.
As the children of God, we are now righteous and worthy, not because of what we did, but because you call us a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation. We are significant, because YOU called us out of darkness into marvelous light. As your own possession, our excellencies proclaim your glory and beauty (1 Peter 2:9-10). Father, open the eyes of your children on these campuses who view themselves of no or low worth. Let them see that they are loved and treasured. Convict them with a sense of worthiness and purpose, for we are the citizens of God’s kingdom (Phil 3:20) and we are your ambassadors (2 Cor. 5:20). Let the students know that they no longer need to be enslaved by the shame and the guilt, regardless of their familial background, their academic, or relational failures, for there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Show them your amazing work of propitiation that they no longer need to live under the fear of personal incapability or shortcomings, but to boast in their weaknesses, which might be used to show your perfect power and your glory. Teach the students that your wonderful treasure is in them, as jars of clay; they can show that the surpassing power belongs to you (2 Cor. 4:7).
We pray for students who believed in the lie that their self-worth depends on their own performances or accomplishments. Being the children of the King is far better than being a part of the most honorable honor’s colleges, fraternities or sororities. Spirit, reveal your truth and set them free. Let them know that those who are in Christ are worthy and significant, that they no longer need to be enslaved by people’s approval. Let those who are accomplished by their own strength repent from their arrogance and pride. May they turn to you and grow the desire of seeking excellence as a part of their daily offering to you. May they realize that they no longer need their GPA or perfect body image to be approved or accepted, for their worth is rooted from who they are in Christ. You have already bought them with a great price (1 Cor. 6:20). Lord, send your laborers to campus to share the good news of hope. We lift up those who have not yet known you, who are desperately yearning for attention, approval and affection. Save them from their trespasses and sins. May more students’ lives be transformed through the Holy Scripture and your mighty work of salvation! Thank you for your faithfulness to forgive the sins of those who repent (1 John 1:9).
We pray this prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen!
