Day 23 Prayer – Marriage
Dear Prayer Warrior:
Please use this prayer as a guide. As you pray, listen to the still, small voice of God.
Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. Pray for persons or situations you may be personally aware of concerning this issue. Use scriptures you know as the sword of the Spirit.
Scripture Praise Focus:
“’But God made them male and female from the beginning of creation.
This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and
is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.’
Since they are no longer two but one, let no one split apart
what God has joined together.”
(Genesis 2:24, Mark 10:7-9)
Dear Heavenly Father,
We give You praise and glory that You have given us a wonderful plan for marriage where two become as one, united with each other and with you. It is a relationship of three persons, God, man and woman; as the Scriptures teach in Ecclesiastes 4:12, a cord of three is not easily broken. Today, Lord, we ask that You bless marriages – current and future – for our college students. Please touch their hearts and minds with the power of Your love in order that they might love and be loved in the same way. As they enter this new semester, protect them as they search for love. As they pray, guide them to a mate of Your choosing. Protect them from relationships that would not honor You. For all students who are not believers, we pray that they would ask Jesus Christ into their heart to be their Lord and Savior.
We pray for everlasting love and marriage for students – a marriage that exemplifies our union with Christ (Ephesians 5:32). We pray that they would show true love to one another: love that is patient and kind; never envious, boastful, proud, rude, self-seeking, easily angered, not keeping score of wrongs (I Corinthians 13:4-5). May the Holy Spirit help husband and wife submit to one another out of reverence for Christ (Ephesians 5:21). May each look to Christ as a model of the perfect mate. Protect them from all temptations; may lust and adultery never enter their marriage. You have ordained the family to be of one man and one woman and have decreed adultery to be sin (Exodus 20:14). Let each person choose a sinless marriage, and each partner dedicate themselves to their spouse.
Lord, we ask that You would make the campus a safe place where healthy friendships and perhaps future marriages are forged. We pray that everlasting covenants be created and honored. Please provide support for married students on the campus. Make affordable housing available to them. Provide jobs where needed. Protect the marriage from ungodly influences on campus and in the classroom. Change the atmosphere of the campus where the sanctity of marriage is respected.
We pray this prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen!
