Day 16 Prayer – Forgiveness
Dear Prayer Warrior:
Please use this prayer as a guide. As you pray, listen to the still, small voice of God.
Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you. Pray for persons or situations you may be personally aware of concerning this issue. Use scriptures you know as the sword of the Spirit.
Scripture Praise Focus:
“Be kind and compassionate to one another,
forgiving each other, as in Christ God forgave you.”
(Ephesians 4:32)
Dear Heavenly Father,
We give You praise and glory that You are a God of total and complete forgiveness because of the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Through Your love all the sins of mankind can be forgiven, including those of our college students. By your love, protect students from feelings of loss, betrayal, hurt or hatred that may lead to bitterness and unforgiveness. Deliver them from a spirit of pride that may keep them from seeking or accepting forgiveness. Unforgiveness reveals a captive heart, trapped in darkness, a captive of sin. So may those students who do not know Christ as Savior, turn from darkness to light, and accept the forgiveness of sins which is theirs in Christ Jesus. (Acts 26:18).
We pray for total healing of students who have been hurt by others or have hurt others. May the Holy Spirit make them aware of the bondage that results from failure to forgive themselves or others. May they understand that forgiveness does not condone an offense, but releases the offense into God’s hands that the healing process might begin. We pray that through your unconditional love, they would be enabled to forgive others just as You through Christ have forgiven them. We pray you would remind them that love covers a multitude of wrongs (1Peter 4:8). We ask that they would learn this lesson sooner rather than later not to take revenge. You say In Romans 12:19 that vengeance belongs to You; You will repay. Remind them that as they forgive others, so will they be forgiven by You, their Heavenly Father. Remind them that love is not a choice, but a command.
Lord, we pray Your presence and loving forgiveness be felt like never before across the college campus. May forgiveness lead to reconciliation and reconciliation true revival across every university campus. We pray that students, professors, and administrators unite to create a peaceful, respectful, and encouraging environment where forgiveness is the rule and not the exception; where failure to meet expectations, or keep a promise, or behave justly is not an excuse for hatred or retaliation.
Father, we thank you that Your son Jesus Christ paid the ultimate price for unforgiveness—His own life. And because of His gift of love, everyone can be set free from bitterness and unforgiveness. Thank you that students can be free through your mighty Spirit.
We pray this prayer in Jesus’ name. Amen!
